Larisa Migachyov - the Founder
Ms. Migachyov got an engineering education at Stanford University, and worked as an engineer in Silicon Valley until the second layoff in as many years. Instead of looking for yet another engineering job, she founded this tutoring firm instead - initially, as an in-person tutoring business serving students throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and then as an online tutoring firm providing math help to students throughout the world. Ms. Migachyov still maintains a thriving in-person tutoring practice in addition to her online students.
Dina Migachyov - the Senior Advisor
Mrs. Migachyov was an electrical engineer until the birth of her daughter; after becoming a mother, she attended the Herzen Pedagogical Institute in St.Petersburg, Russia, got her Master's Degree in education, and began her teaching career in the Russian school system. She taught high school math for 12 years. The opportunity to emigrate to America put an end to her Russian teaching career; shortly after emigrating, however, she found a job teaching math at a small private elementary school in St.Paul, MN. She completely recreated the way math was taught at the school, and transformed a mediocre math program into an extraordinary one. Only 3 years after she came to the school, the school's math team took 1st place in the state; her 6th grade students were so far ahead that they went to 9th grade math after graduating from 6th grade. She was awarded the Presidential Scholars Teaching Recognition Award in 2003 for her excellence in teaching. She was also listed in Who is Who Among American Teachers twice.
After retiring from teaching, Mrs.Migachyov turned to writing math textbooks as a way to pass on her knowledge. She is now the author of 4 textbooks - Mathematics for Little Ones, Fractions and More, Equations are Easy, and Equations in Geometry. She also maintains a thriving tutoring practice, both in-person and online.
Sharlana Bacchus - the Webmaster
Ms. Bacchus was kind enough to take some time away from her demanding work at Google to help put this website together. She has worked at many other companies in Silicon Valley, doing web development and other types of programming. (She is also a gifted and enthusiastic ESL tutor, but due to her demanding work schedule, she is not available to tutor online - alas...)
